Crowns & Veneers

Crowns & Veneers

Crowns are dental caps that are placed over the teeth to conceal their deformities. A veneer, on the other hand, is a wafer-thin shell that is affixed to front teeth to hide its damages. Both treatments provide cosmetic restoration by concealing imperfections and reinstating the teeth’s appearance. They also help restore the functionality of the teeth. At Parklane Family Dental, our efficient dentists can place crowns and veneers to restore patients’ teeth.

Benefits of Crowns

  • Crowns restore severely damaged teeth.
  • It lasts long with proper dental care.
  • The treatment resolves bite conditions in patients.
  • Crowns protect the teeth and avoid decay or further damage.
  • It is custom-made to fit each of the patient's damaged teeth.

Benefits of Veneers

  • Veneers cover the chipped and cracked teeth at the front.
  • It conceals the gaps in between the teeth.
  • The treatment prevents the discoloration of the teeth.
  • It is easy to maintain with proper dental care.
  • Veneers are durable and last around ten to fifteen years.

The Procedure of Placing Crowns

Dentists first analyze through dental evaluation if placing a dental crown is the appropriate treatment that the patient needs. If it is, anesthesia is then used to numb the teeth to be treated. The dentist then scrapes the top of the teeth to make room for the dental cap. They then use a digital imaging system to take the impression of the teeth, which is sent to the laboratory for the fabrication of the crown. In the subsequent appointment, the dentist affixes the crown to the teeth using dental cement, restoring the tooth's look and functionality.

The Procedure of Placing Veneers

After the evaluation of the dental condition and determination of the need for veneers, the dentist initiates the procedure by administering anesthesia to the patient. The dentist then etches out a small portion of the enamel to make the veneer fit better. Digital X-rays of the teeth and mouth are taken, which serve as the impression used for the fabrication of the veneer. The dentist then fixes the customized veneer to the teeth, bonding it using dental adhesive.

Crowns and veneers are long-lasting solutions for patients’ dental deformities. They are convenient for patients to maintain through practicing good dental care.
